When we hold cycle bell sound is not produced. Why?

Sounding a cycle bell is very easy task. Can any one make sound by holding it. It is impossible. I will explain you clearly. We know that sound can travel in all three media i.e solid, liquid and gas(air). Okay. Here, we have to know that vibrations produce sound. When we hold the bell, the sound vibrations enters our hand. As vibrations enter our hand sound can't be produced when we hold cycle bell.
